Controlling Your Destiny with Epigenetics

The study of the relatively new science, epigenetics, is really a fascinating subject. it is the study of biological mechanisms that switch genes on and off based on environmental factors.

According to an internet site entitled, ‘What is Epignetics.com’’ one can read that epigenetics is everywhere: It includes what you eat, where you live, who you interact with—all of which cause chemical modifications around the genes. And, Science tells us we have 20,000+ genes and in myriad combinations that can be switched off and on based on the several mentioned factors. In certain diseases such as cancer or Alzheimer’s, various genes will be switched into the opposite state and away from a normal, healthy state as one is exposed to these factors.

Here’s a great analogy presented in Nessa Carey’s Epigenetics Revolution. “Think of the human lifespan as a very long movie. The cells would be the actors and actresses, essential units that make up the movie. DNA, in turn, would be the script — instructions for all the participants of the movie to perform their roles. Subsequently, the DNA sequence would be the words on the script, and certain blocks of these words that instruct key actions or events to take place would be the genes. The concept of genetics would be like screenwriting.”

Putting it all together, it is easy to see that the genes don’t create disease. Instead, the environment signals the gene to create disease. Dr.Joe Dispenza wrote a cutting-edge best-selling book entitled, ‘Becoming Supernatural’ in which he draws his information from epigenetics, molecular biology, neuro-cardiology and quantum physics. He tells us elevated emotions of joy, gratitude, inspiration, compassion and freedom could signal new genes to make healthy proteins affecting the body’s structure and function. That’s a bold statement but he offers scientific studies to substantiate it.

If a person is seriously ill, this illness is oftentimes triggered by stress chemicals coursing through the body and turning on unhealthy genes. By fully embracing those elevated stress emotions, an individual can override the downward spiral and turn on new genes which can alter serious health issues for ultimate healing.

So what do you need to do in order to make this miraculous switch to good physical and emotional health? Dr..Dispenza suggests a number of things you can read about in his book. But just to give you an idea,

Take time to re-create a new life by striving to become as conscious as possible of negative thoughts both in waking moments and in dream behavior. Don’t let anything slip by your awareness and break the habit of negative, self-defeating thought. Invent a whole new self.

Don’t relive negative experiences from the past as you are virtually selecting and instructing the same genes that may be causing poor health conditions. If you can embody the emotions of a positive experience by leaning into the positive emotions before the experience actually happens, you can change the genetic expression and change the body to be biologically aligned with the future.

Naturally, it takes a lot of effort to trade anger, fear and depression for joy, love and gratitude but the key is not to give up. Let’s face it, nothing worthwhile comes without effort. There are many more suggestions Dr Joe Dispenza makes in his book and it is well worth the read.
